Break Bread, Make Connections

On May 18, 2017, SAGE and AARP launched a movement to build intergenerational connections in the LGBT community. We invited LGBT people and our allies to break bread in homes, workplaces and community organizations. Together, we explored what caring for one another looks like when age no longer divides usand it was enlightening.

SAGE Table is an established community engagement model and a well-designed “program in a box” that includes everything necessary to host a successful event—from easy online registration, sample content for social media and email outreach, to professionally designed collateral materials and host toolkits. SAGE Table is a complete package, ready for replication. With AARP as a sponsor, SAGE as the organizer and celebrities like Whoopi Goldberg and Sia as spokespeople in 2017, this multi-generational national event is a unique opportunity to increase the visibility of your organization and to create new connections across generations

Get Your Questions Answered

SAGE hosts a weekly SAGE Table Informational Call to help answer any questions you might have about partnership and programming. The call is every Tuesday from 3-4pm EST. Join the call online.

No internet access? No problem. You can dial in from your phone: 1-866-298-1557. No PIN needed.

Prep Your Listing
To help hundreds of hosts and thousands of guests find each other, we are using a platform created by One Table. It’s a simple and elegant way to list your event(s). Your listing(s) include your logo, a message from the host, number of guests, event location and time, menu and logistics. Multiple events means more visibility for your organization. Events can be set to public or private. The Find a Table feature launches in April. In the meantime, to get a sense of how SAGE Table will look, visit One Table.
Are There Hard Costs Involved In Being An Organizational Host?
Organizational Hosts are expected to provide space (at your location or off-site), table settings (plates, cutlery, napkins, cups), food and beverages. Hosts are encouraged to tailor SAGE Table to match your capacity and needs. You can offer a casual morning repast of coffee and pastries, order in sandwiches or pizza or go all out and provide a catered buffet or restaurant meal. Your events may take place in multiple locations at the same time or occur throughout the day in one location. They be as simple or as extravagant as you wish, but you cannot charge guests for the meal.
Decide How Many Guests You Want To Host

Organizational Hosts function much like Individual Hosts, but instead of hosting one private event for ten people, Organizational Hosts organize multiple public events that bring 50 to 1000 people (or more!) to the table. Also, Organizational Hosts provide a vital component of community dinners, saving a place at the table for the thousands of people who want to be a guest. Pick a Tier that matches your capacity and interest. If your recruitment exceeds your expectations, we’ll cheerfully move you up a Tier.
